Do I need to be at home?

For new members, we recommend you be available. This gives you the opportunity to meet your launderer or launderess and ensures we get your laundry into your home safe and sound. After your first appointment you can discuss an alternative with your launderer or laundress (garage codes, porches, etc.)

What's included with membership?

Members receive weekly or biweekly service on their reserved day and time.  We provide complete professional textile care for all members of the household and all machine washable household textiles. We review each item individually and care for it using our proprietary method. We return items Instagramably  organized by family member, item type and color on hangers or neatly in bins and ready to store.   Service includes plastic and velvet hangers (that we ask that you reuse), all fragrance free detergents and spot cleaners

How much do memberships cost.

Our membership pricing is based on your household size and needs. We consider how many people are in your home, how many children and their ages. For a one person household memberships start at $900 per month. For a family of four a typical membership would be about $2,250 per month for weekly service.  Your membership offer will explain pricing options in detail.

Can I use my own detergent?

Sorry usually no, but we make a few exceptions. Detergents often have heavy chemical fragrances that are hard to get out of the equipment. Your laundry will come back to you smelling like nothing. But this is good news, that's how you know its actually clean. We haven't just covered up bad smells with fragrance.  If your family has a special detergent to meet a medical need (allergies or skin conditions etc.) and it's fragrance free we are happy to make an exception.

Can you hang dry my delicates?

If your items include washable cashmere or anything labeled hang dry or dry flat we default to following label instructions.  Otherwise, for delicate items labeled safe for the dryer, we use our LG dryer “no heat” settings.  If you prefer items to be hung dry regardless of their care label just let us know and we'd be happy to.

What's the deal with the rack?

Your membership includes a clothing rack. Other laundry providers try and shove all your freshly cleaned clothes into bags or hang a few wire hangers on your door knob. We  return your laundry to you organized which means neatly placed on a large retail style clothing rack. You can either keep your rack or return it to us after you've collected your items.

Can I sort my own clothes?

Do you iron?

Not often.  We pull your clothes out of the dryer right when they're done, before wrinkles have a chance to set in. We hand smooth and steam. Occasionally we'll use an iron to get deep creases out of clothing or sheets.  We return clothes with a fresh casual look rather than a "pressed" look.

Does Lorry Launderette do dry cleaning?

Nope, we just do regular Laundry and we are the experts. If you’ve been taking your collared dress shirts to the dry cleaners to be washed, let us have a crack at them! We won’t starch your sleeves but you love how clean and fresh they’ll be!

Do you use fabric softener?

We don’t believe in Fabric softener. Fabric softener adds a chemical (usually petroleum) coating to your clothing that isn’t rinsed out. We believe if you do laundry the right way and actually get it clean you don’t need these chemical additives.

What don't you wash?

We wash most everyday household laundry. We aren't currently equipped to wash reusable diapers or pet beds/bedding. We also can’t wash anything with harsh chemicals or paint. This means no lab clothing, or clothing used for large painting projects. We also don't wash anything labeled "dry clean only".
