Do I need to be at home?
For your first appointment we recommend you be there. This gives you the opportunity to meet your launderer or launderess and ensures we get your laundry into your home safe and sound. After your first appointment you can discuss an alternative with your launderer or laundress (garage codes, porches, etc.)
Do you provide hangers?
Please provide us with your hangers and bins at the beginning of your service. We'll return everything to you ready to be hung right in your own closet. Please note that we cannot accept wire hangers as they can damage clothing. If you don't have hangers and you're booking your first service with us, the hangers are on us! We'll provide a set of white plastic and white velvet hangers as well as organizational bins and boxes. We just ask that you reuse them next time we come. On subsequent services we'll bill you $1/ hanger or box needed to complete your order.
What if I accidentally book the wrong service?
If you overestimate you'll only be charged for the service that you actually needed. If you underestimate how much you have, we can usually accommodate. All of our services include a bit of buffer time.

Can I use my own detergent?
Sorry usually no, but we make a few exceptions. Detergents often have heavy chemical fragrances that are hard to get out of the equipment. Your laundry will come back to you smelling like nothing. But this is good news, that's how you know its actually clean. We haven't just covered up bad smells with fragrance. If your family has a special detergent to meet a medical need (allergies or skin conditions etc.) and it's fragrance free we are happy to make an exception.
Can you hang dry my delicates?
Sure just let us know that's your preference. But we highly suggest you try our method using our LG dryer “no heat” settings on your delicates. This way everything comes back to you dry and organized without being hard on your delicate fabrics. Another thing to consider is climate. If you live in a humid climate, clothes returned hung to dry may quickly get a musty smell.
What's the deal with rack return?
Other laundry providers try and shove all your freshly cleaned clothes into bags or hang a few wire hangers on your door knob. We return your laundry to you organized with means neatly placed on a large clothing rack. After you've had a chance to remove your clothing we'll come pick up the rack. If you're already booked for another service feel free to keep the rack until we see you again.
Can I sort my own clothes?
We totally get it, maybe you don’t think your brights need a sperate load. Perhaps they’re older and you know they won’t transfer color. Or maybe you want more categories, perhaps your toddler played in the mud and you want those clothes done all on their own. So Yes, we are happy to use your sort. But there are a few things to keep in mind. Part of the value we deliver is a sort method you can trust, so please consider letting us sort for you to save you time. Also, sorting yourself might not make your service faster. We’ll still divide up your presorted loads if we think they are too big to be effectively cleaned. And we’ll always still sort out bulky items like towels, sheets and puffer vests.
Do you iron?
Not often. We pull your clothes out of the dryer right when they're done, before wrinkles have a chance to set in. We hand smooth and steam. Occasionally we'll use an iron to get deep creases out of clothing or sheets. We return clothes with a fresh casual look rather than a "pressed" look.
Does Lorry Launderette do dry cleaning?
Nope, we just do regular Laundry and we are the experts. If you’ve been taking your collared dress shirts to the dry cleaners to be washed, let us have a crack at them! We won’t starch your sleeves but you love how clean and fresh they’ll be!
Do you use fabric softener?
We don’t believe in Fabric softener. Fabric softener adds a chemical (usually petroleum) coating to your clothing that isn’t rinsed out. We believe if you do laundry the right way and actually get it clean you don’t need these chemical additives.
What don't you wash?
We wash most everyday household laundry. We aren't currently equipped to wash reusable diapers or pet beds/bedding. We also can’t wash anything with harsh chemicals or paint. This means no lab clothing, or clothing used for large painting projects. We also don't wash anything labeled "dry clean only".
