FAQs

What's included in The Lorry Launderette Membership?

Memberships are ideal for individuals and families looking to completely outsource textile care to professional launderers. Members receive weekly or biweekly service on their reserved day and time. We provide complete professional textile care for all members of the household and all machine-washable household textiles. We review each item individually and care for it using our proprietary method. We return items Instagrammably organized by family member, item type, and color — on hangers or neatly in linen bins, ready to store. Service includes plastic and white velvet hangers and linen bins (which we ask that you reuse), and all fragrance-free detergents and spot cleaners. Some pricing plans include additional gifts; review your membership offer for details.

How much does a Membership cost?

We save the average family of four about 40 hours a month in time they would have spent on their own laundry. Our membership pricing is based on your household size and needs. We consider how many adults are in your home, how many children, and their ages. For a one-person household, memberships start at $900 per month. For a family of four, memberships start at about $2,250 per month. Your membership offer will explain pricing options in detail.

Do I need to be home?

For new members, we recommend you be available. This gives you the opportunity to meet your launderer or launderess and ensures we get your laundry into your home safe and sound. After your first appointment, you can discuss an alternative with your launderer or launderess (garage codes, porches, etc.).

What area do you serve?

The Lorry lives in Arcadia (85018). We'll prioritize that area at launch, and add memberships in other neighborhoods as waitlist demand tells us where to go next. Join the waitlist regardless of your zip code — it helps us know where to expand.

Can I cancel, pause, or reschedule?

Yes. Members can cancel at any time, and we'll reimburse the prorated share of any membership dues not yet used. You can reschedule up to one visit per month — either to a Saturday makeup slot or to another member's cancellation slot, if one is available. Members may also pause membership once per year, for up to four weeks.

Can you hang-dry my delicates?

Absolutely. We read the care label of each individual item and assess the fabric type to determine if it requires air-drying or drying flat. If you have a preference for an entire category to be hung dry regardless of the care label, we are happy to do that. Our launderers and launderesses are trained to care for delicate undergarments, thin high-end fabrics and laces, as well as washable cashmere and silk. Even for items labeled for the dryer, we still use low or no heat options for clothing. We occasionally use medium heat for towels and sheets.

Do you hand-wash?

For hand-wash only items, we will use our machine on a short delicate cycle, without spin with an appropriate delicate detergent.

Can I sort my own clothes?

We totally get it — maybe you don't think your brights need a separate batch. Perhaps they're older and you know they won't transfer color. Or maybe you want more categories — perhaps your toddler played in the mud and you want those clothes done all on their own. So yes, we are happy to use your sort. But there are a few things to keep in mind. Part of the value we deliver is a sort method you can trust, so please consider letting us sort for you to save you time. We'll still divide up your presorted groupings if we think a category is too large for one wash cycle. And we'll always still sort out bulky items like towels, sheets, and puffer vests.

Do you iron?

Not often. We pull your clothes out of the dryer right when they're done, before wrinkles have a chance to set in. We hand-smooth and steam. Occasionally we'll use an iron to get deep creases out of clothing or sheets. We return clothes with a fresh, casual look rather than a "pressed" look.

Do you dry-clean?

No. If we find items labeled dry-clean only, we will set them aside and return them unwashed.
